BMW vehicles are distinguished vehicles that require a certain level of upkeep and care to ensure they sparkle and drive as smoothly as possible. Whether you just purchased a brand new BMW model or cherish an older model, there’s no doubt you’ve taken steps to care and clean your vehicle. But is there anything more you can be doing to extend its lifespan and appear brand new?

Right Tech Auto – BMW has compiled a list of the crucial steps you should be taking to give your BMW a thorough cleaning.

Step 1: Start Off With The Wheels

High-quality, clean tires are what allows a BMW to function at its peak performance. When those tires become built up with dirt, sludge, grime or debris, they will slow down your vehicle’s performance and make for a bumpy ride. Before you get to washing the body of the vehicle, clean the brake discs and brake callipers with a high-pressure car cleaner. This will prevent salt crystal deposits from forming after the car is parked after being washed.

Step 2: Rinse The Body With Shampoo

After you’ve cleaned the wheels, it’s time to rinse and clean the body of your BMW to remove any dirt or debris that has certainly stuck to the surface. If debris or particles are neglected and left to stay on the vehicle, it could scratch the paint and damage its appearance. Use a car shampoo or a car wash cleaner that is PH-balanced and doesn’t have detergent in the solution, which can damage the paint. Car shampoos should be strong enough to remove dirt and grease but extremely gentle to protect the exterior’s paint. After this, use a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth or car wash mitt to apply the shampoo across the vehicle’s exterior. Then, rinse the car off with clean water.

Step 3: Dry Off The Exterior

Dry off the exterior of the BMW with a clean microfibre cloth that can wick away water while protecting the paint and without leaving watermarks. You should be using two different microfibre cloths; one to soak up the water and the other to wipe away the leftover water and wetness on the exterior.

Step 4: Use A Car Window Cleaner

Use a car window cleaner that does not contain any dyes, additives or streaky soap that may leave behind residue. You can even choose to purchase a car window cleaner that comes in a spray bottle and delivers a mist application for easier use. Spray the cleaner onto a microfibre cloth then apply it to the window and clean to remove dirt, fingerprints, grease, and debris.
